Baby Boomer
The significance of this group of people is that statistically as far as population growth goes, there was a very large in crease in the total population during that period.
Suddenly, there were many more people, all of essentially the same age. This large group moved through the stages of life affecting many aspects of the political and financial landscape of America. There was a tremendous rise in technology, in stock wealth and a profound impact on the political views in politics.
Soon, this entire group will begin to reach retirement age, and then subsequently advanced age. This will put a tremendous strain on the resources available to provide adequate care to so many people. How this care will be paid for is an open question. Prior to this age group this care was provided by family members, or through government social insurance programs. Long term care will play a crucial roll in the type and amount of care administered.
